Celebrating Generosity: IABS Charities Check Presentation to Saint Saviour Catholic Academy
During the 2024 holiday season, IABS Charities proudly presented a check to Saint Saviour Catholic Academy, marking a special moment of generosity and community spirit.
Along with the generous donors of IABS, this heartfelt contribution was made possible through the remarkable generosity of Judy Fallon, a proud alumna of Saint Saviour Catholic Academy and the 2024 Kathleen Slattery Woman of the Year honoree at the Great Irish Fair of New York.
The funds, raised through underwriting and journal ads, are designated to provide scholarship assistance and support families facing financial challenges in affording a Catholic education. As Saint Saviour President Dean Fusto shared, this support could make a profound difference in the lives of families in need.
Judy’s dedication to Catholic education is deeply rooted in her upbringing and her parents’ sacrifices to ensure she and her siblings could attend Catholic school. Her father, who worked four jobs—including as a Rectory Assistant at Saint Saviour Parish—instilled in her a strong commitment to helping others.
“I was deeply honored and wanted to help others as I was given the gift of a Catholic education,” Judy explained. “I asked Martin Cottingham to direct a portion of the funds raised to my alma mater, and I’m grateful for the Board’s agreement. My goal is to honor my parents by supporting families who need financial assistance for a Catholic education.”
The Irish American Building Society (IABS), under the leadership of President Martin Cottingham and Vice President Mary Glynn, played a crucial role in making this meaningful contribution a reality. This generous act embodies the mission of IABS and the spirit of the Great Irish Fair—celebrating heritage, fostering community, and advancing education.
